Students will understand the causes and effects of Irish immigration to Lowell, MA in the early 1800’s.

Students will understand the role that Irish immigrants played in the industrialization of Lowell, Massachusetts as well as the tensions and barriers resulting from their immigration.

1. Students should engage in this lesson after having studied the early Industrial Revolution and the history of the development of the Lowell Mills. Also students should have studied the major developments in Irish history. 2. Students will need computer competency and access to a computer. 3. Students should understand the difference between primary and secondary sources.
