Task |
The dreaded Avian Flu has struck. What began as a sickness in birds began spreading to humans in 1997. Since then, the virus has slowly mutated into a virus that can spread from human to human as easily as the common cold. Unlike the cold, this disease kills. One pandemic in the last century killed tens of millions of people worldwide. The federal government has threatened to shut down the city. In response to this, the mayor has formed a task force to decide how the city will respond. A safety plan needs to be constructed and approved by the city council. You have been selected to take on the role of a community member to make this safety plan. You will research the flu from this perspective. Part of your task will be to compose a position paper with your ideas of how the situation should be handled. The only thing is that you'll need to work with others with a completely different point of view! You and your group of community representatives will present your safety plan at an emergency city council meeting. The fate of the city relies on your efforts. |
