Introduction
The trans-Atlantic trade involved the Americas, Europe and West Africa. Merchants on three continents traded raw materials, manufactured goods, and captured Africans to be sold into slavery. This was also known as the triangular trade.
The enslavement and forcible transportation of men, women, and children spanned more than three centuries. The slave trade and its impact changed the world.
