You will create a poster to illustrate the significance of the Trans-Atlantic slave trade and its political, social and economic impact in colonial New England. To help you get started, you will perform the following activities:
- View “Pictorial Images of the Trans-Atlantic Slave Trade.” Select five images from the gallery and write a brief description about each. How are these images significant in describing the slave trade?
- Examine and analyze Captain Ellery’s letter (circa 1759) and identify protocol and instructions in the transportation and care of property (slaves) from Africa to the New World.
- Map the route of the Trans-Atlantic slave trade as set in the Medford Slave Trade documents, and produce a time line.
