Role Assignments
You will begin your journey by reading
about a student named William Cooper Nell, and hear how the Boston
School Committee responded when he won a prize for being one of the
top students in Boston. What do you think about this response?.

Then click to read “The
Triumph Of Equal School Rights In Boston”. Read
as much as you can. It is written in language used in the 19th
century and may be difficult.
You will work in groups of 5 students
assigned by your teacher. Each person in the group will have a
specific job.
- Historian - This
person will be responsible for leading the group in researching the
websites, documents, and other resources for historical content.
- Reporter -
This person will be responsible for leading the group in selecting
historical information for the project.
- Lawyer -
This person will be responsible for leading the group in researching
and discussing the legal aspects of the case.
- Producer -
This group member will be responsible for the overall creation of
your project.
- Spokesperson -
While all group members will participate in some aspect of the presentation,
the spokesperson will be the lead reporter.
Choices
For choices one and two, you may present
your project as an essay, a PowerPoint presentation, a storyboard
or a poster board.
Choice three will be presented as a map on poster board.
Choice four will use the method of presentation
the teacher has available, e.g. a Podcast for Macs, Adobe Premiere
Elements, Audacity for PC/Mac, or a PowerPoint if one of the other
methods is not available. |
